The Silk Qin is a traditional Confucian Chinese instrument that had all but been eliminated with the cultural revolution there. To hear the authentic music in such talented hands was a marvel. John answered questions from an enthusiastic audience. Then did it all over again for another wonderful crowd the next day.

Howard Finkleson’s Photo Abstracts surounded the performance with Ray Yip’s scroll art and Rose Sigal-Ibsen Calligraphy in the next room.

More Photos of Performance: Link

Daryl Reis invites her World-Renown friend Sun Ock Lee from South Korea to preform with her husband Howards Photo Art Abstracts all around and even projected onto. It was a wonderful moving performance that left many awe-inspired by the serenity and power of Sun Ock Lee’s movements with the Howard’s Dynamic Imagery.

Both shows on Nov 1st and 2nd where just incredible. With Sun Ock giving wonderful Q&A’s after.

Scroll Art by Ray Yip, Calligraphy by Rose Sigal-Ibsen and Lenticular Imagery rounded out the show.

More Photos of Performance: Link
Heaven or Hell. There upon you get Ethereal Advice and your Wings or Horns and Tail. Performance Art piece deemed a hit with the crowed that came out for the Poets Galley Art Expo Opening at TALEO Arts.

One review:

YOU CAN'T JUDGE AN ART SHOW BY ITS COVER GIRL
by AUGUSTA WIND

I found the art show at the Taleo Arts Center quite different from the usual "Art Opening". When you first enter the Center you descend some stairs and there's a red curtain hanging in strips with little skeletons all over it. This you must enter through to see the showing. As my husband and I headed down the stairs toward this curtain, I heard this woman say to a couple who had entered ahead of us, "Where would you like to go? Heaven or hell.?" He answered, I've had enough of hell." I immediately turned around and left. My husband followed me out, reluctantly. Some friends of ours had arrived ahead of us and he just wanted to go in. I had to stop and pray. What was this all about? This question, Heaven or hell was a very serious question to me and the woman asking had a wicked tone to her voice which gave me an uncomfortable.
Despite all of this I prayed and the answer was, "Follow your husband. He bears the responsibilty for the choice to enter through this door. I knew then I was to follow my husband's wishes and advance to the front. We entered through what I believe was the veil of death. We're in pergatory, we're told. The woman, dressed like a demon, asks my husband, "Do you want to go to heaven or hell?" My husband "answers, Heaven is my abode." An angel standing on the left of this demon praises the Lord and a tall angel behind also chimes in adoration for the Lord and this decision. The devil, who is positioned on the right, the gate to hell, is not too happy. The costumes are very good and convincing. Then I am asked to choose and I state, "the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand" and it is my choice. Again we hear sweet adoration. The devil sitting at the entrance says, "Heaven is very popular." I said, "Thank God for that." We are then instructed to go into a little room with the tall angel where we are adorned with a halo and wings.
Entering the room where the art is hanging and food is is served, we find many people milling around. Many had taken off their wings and halo. I found each person there more interesting than the art because they had all chosen to go to heaven. It was like being in heaven and seeing who made it there.
At one point my husband wondered into "Hell". I followed him and saw a few disturbing pieces and I walked out. I realized at that point that I would follow my husband into heaven but not into hell. I also noticed that there weren't many volunteering to keep company with the devil. Right then I felt I had a revelation from the Lord that there will be lots more people in heaven because when confronted with the question, heaven or hell, they will choose heaven. As I was commenting to another visitor about these revelations I was asked by one of the artists what pieces caused me to leave. Her work was hanging in the area referred to as hell and she asked me to re-enter and show her. I consented and when I pointed them out (they weren't hers) she knew whose they were. She asked what I saw and I said pain and suffering and also a lack of understanding why it was that way. She said I perceived correctly what this artist was going through. I'm glad she took me back. The art show, as it turns out, is a great display of talent and expression. Another revelation. In the darkness the light not only can find a way out, it can find a way in, as well.
All in all, it was very "Woodstock" experience; unique and creative. The bottom line is, the installation at the gate, which I found to be both compelling and disturbing, was so effective that it knocked me off my center and caused me to dig deep for a sure footing. Anything that can do that is a true work of art. One which I will ponder to the end of time. Hallelujah! Check it out for yourself!

Sincerely,
AUGUST A. WIND (but you can call me "gusty")
a/k/a Abigail Storm

One little angel with Show Curator Sarkis Simonian looking on:

Angles and Devils have a great time mingling around the Art Works of 15 different artist and the food table laid-out by Curator of the Gallery AnnaMaria Windish-Hunt.

Angles and Devils Frolic.....
